The True Land Lords of Standing Rock The current demonstrations led by the indigenous people of the Standing Rock reservation in North Dakota is very symbolic of the “change” we have heard about for the last eight years (Obama) and the forthcoming era for four more years (Trump). What is the “change” other than an intensification of the oppression of Native Americans in North Dakota by the ruling class in conjunction with national and local law enforcement agencies? (Note the similarity of tactics used against Africans, Latinos and the oppressed European workers.) The cause of the struggle is the theft of the natural resoures (Mother Earth) by the ruling class & their legal armed forces as the True Land Lords have been to stop construction of the Dakota Access pipeline. Then in early December, the US Army Corps of Engineers announced it would not allow the pipeline to run under a lake on the Sioux Tribes Standing Rock reservation. It remains to be seen whether the decision will be reversed next year when Donald Trump becomes president has placed allegiance with the builders of the oil pipe line. The proposed 1,172-mile-long pipeline would transport oil from the North Dakota Bakken region through South Dakota, Iowa and into Illinois. Historically, the increase of nonviolent protest by the oppressed has given rise to the increase of armed violence by the oppressor against the oppressed. The Pan African Revolutionary Socialist Party stands in solidarity with the indigenous peoples in their struggle for justice!
